Sam Cotterill's Fanciful Felties. In all ways, this is a good book--aesthetically pleasing, charming, creative, smart. I love the processes for which it calls--cutting felt, simple sewing, embroidery; Sam's main thing (aside from her fabric design and her 2-D art) has historically been free-motion sewing for a sketch effect, and she does it brilliantly. The book allows, though, for good old-fashioned hand embroidery for those of us still enamored with this way of drawing on fabric and felt. And each time I finish one of the projects, I feel satisfied and proud--surprised, really, with what I've accomplished and happy to display or share the end product. Sweet!
